In the mid sixties Jane Garrod and Hope Scherf saw Liz (Friedlander) Searle teach vaulting at Camp Kennolyn in Santa Cruz. They both thought it would be a nice addition to the 4-H, Pony Club, and other ranch activities available to their own and other children in the Santa Clara valley. Vaulting grew slowly in the USA.
For a while southern California was the center of vaulting competition and growth but in the late 70's the San Francisco Bay Area became the heart of vaulting and has retained that honor to this day. The Mt. Eden Vaulting Club was founded in 1979 when the Garrod Farms Vaulting Club split into the Chez Scherf Flyers and the Mt. Eden Vaulting Club. Mt. Eden club members traveled to Europe several times to compete and learn. Garrod Farms and the Mount Eden Vaulting Club hosted the first international vaulting competition in the USA in 1979. With a consistent history of excellence, we are proud to offer quality horses, top coaches and a solid club foundation for our vaulters.
